Light is always in competition with other light.  There is no light stronger than the sun. Projected images on surfaces that are exposed to daylight are ineffective.  A good rule of thumb: the lower the ambient and competing light, the more brilliant and striking projected image.  In areas of high ambient light, it is possible to achieve high contrast  by shielding the surrounding light from competing light.
